Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the BetterBudget website and application (the "Service"), operated by BetterBudget [COMPANY LEGAL NAME — TODO] ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service
BetterBudget is budgeting software. You enter or import your own financial information and use it to plan and track your money. The Service is a tool, not advice: nothing in it constitutes financial, legal, or tax advice, and you're responsible for your own financial decisions.
2. Your account
You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). You're responsible for activity under your account. If you invite members to your budget, you're responsible for who you invite; members see budget data according to their role.
3. Plans, billing, and trials
- Paid plans (Plus, Business) are billed in advance, monthly or annually, via our payment processor. Prices are shown at checkout and on the pricing page.
- The 14-day Plus trial requires no payment method and converts to the Free plan automatically if you don't subscribe. One trial per account.
- You can cancel anytime from the billing page; paid features continue until the end of the paid period. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
- If you exceed your plan's limits (for example after a downgrade), existing data remains accessible but creating new items beyond the limits may be blocked until you upgrade or remove items.
- We may change prices with reasonable advance notice; changes take effect at your next billing cycle.
4. Your data
You own the data you put into the Service. You grant us the limited rights needed to host, process, back up, and display it in order to run the Service. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. You can request an export of your data and delete your account at any time.
5. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Service: no unlawful use, no attempting to breach or probe security, no abusing rate limits or the import system, no reselling the Service, and no uploading content you don't have the right to use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is our property or that of our licensors. These Terms don't grant you any rights to it other than the right to use the Service as intended.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers (such as hosting, authentication, and payments). We're not responsible for third-party services we don't control, including any app or site you export data to or import data from.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations fit your specific financial situation.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, or data. Our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate the Service or your account for breach of these Terms, with notice where practicable. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 4, 6, 8, 9, and 11) do.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW JURISDICTION — TODO], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction unless applicable law requires otherwise.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the updated version here and update the effective date; material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
