Where EveryDollar is ahead

  • Bank sync today. Its paid tier pulls transactions in automatically. BetterBudget doesn't have bank sync yet — it's planned, and until then logging is manual (which, honestly, we think helps the habit) plus CSV import.
  • Native mobile apps. EveryDollar ships iOS and Android apps. BetterBudget is a web app that works well in mobile browsers.
  • The Ramsey ecosystem. If you're following the Baby Steps and want an app from that world, EveryDollar is the native choice.

Where BetterBudget is ahead

  • Envelopes that carry over. Per-category rollover means underspending in July is waiting for you in August — real envelope behavior.
  • The habit layer. Streaks, XP, 14 badges, and confetti when the month zeroes out. Budgets fail when logging dies; ours is built to keep it alive.
  • Genuinely shared budgets. Every member gets their own login and role, every transaction shows who spent it, and updates land on everyone's screen live.
  • Price. Plus is $4.99/month or $49/year, and the free plan is a complete zero-based budget for one person.

Switching is a fifteen-minute job
